So, what happens when you apply for a job with WIS? Our HR team, Evelyn Anderson and Ira van Katwijk, kick off the hiring process by making contact with you.
“We like to give people an opportunity, so if your application ticks some of the boxes we will definitely get in touch. Some people explain things best in person, and not on a CV. And some others may not include all their skills on their application because they don’t realise that they are relevant to the job,” Ira says.
The first phone interview is pretty chill
We want to get to know you. And we want you to get to know us too! So the best way of doing this is to start our hiring process with a relaxed chat.
What can you expect from this first phone call? Well, the aim of this first stage is to get to know you better! And we want to find out all about your background and what experience you have. But it’s all about you and what you are looking for, too.
So, during this first chat, we will discuss the role in more detail, and we will explain the responsibilities and duties. Moreover, we will tell you all about the company set-up.
And we do want to give you all info about our company culture and values and answer some questions so that you can also get familiar with WIS. Expect us to tell you how we got the basics covered, and a little bit extra too! And how we believe in giving you the opportunity to keep on learning, because we certainly think this is important.
We all liked each other – what happens next?
So the phone interview went super, and we are looking forward to meeting you.
But, before that, we need to know whether you understand and can fulfil the role for which you are applying. In order to be able to see this, if appropriate for your role, we will now send you a test to carry out.
Content writing and design are two of the professions where sending a test beforehand is useful and can avoid grief later.
So you’ve aced the test!
It’s time for you to visit our funky new offices in Sliema, where we can have a more in-depth talk.
At this stage, you will meet our hiring manager and the team manager relevant to the position you are applying for, who would also be the person that you report to if you join the WIS team.
At this point, things get a bit more technical. So, if you did a test, we will talk about that. And we will ask you about the research or process you followed, where you feel your strongest skills lie, and other details that are related to the job.
And, of course, you can ask us anything that you would like to know about the company and the job because communication is a two-way street.
The finishing line
By now we all have a good feel for each other and, probably, we both know whether we want to take this further. Welcome to the final stage, where you get to meet Tarik Ballouz, our Chief Operating Officer, who will conduct an in-depth interview to make sure that you are aware of every aspect of the job and our company. Realistic expectations from both sides are a good thing when starting a new job, right?
And there is also the fun part, where we will show you around the offices, and you get to meet everyone. We are a very diverse and fun bunch at WIS, a group of different characters and nationalities that make for a great mix.
